House of Glue
Autumn 2018
House of Glue is a game that was made as part of a university course about computer game prototyping. The game is for mobile and allows the player to take control over a small ball, and asks him/her to get this ball through the house that the game takes place in.

Design
The game only has a single mechanic as its meant to be easy and simple to pick up and play on your mobile at any time. Pressing the screen can be done whenever the ball is stuck to a patch of glue. This will launch the ball in the direction of the screen press. The player has to aim so that the ball bounces around until it reaches the door that leads to the next level

A full walkthrough of the game is displayed in the video below.
Personal responsibilities
The game was made by a team of four people where I took the role of the designer. As a designer, I was mainly responsible for making sure that the ideas were tested and iterated in a good way so that the game provided a good experience for the player. My tasks included:
-
Sketching ideas for game mechanics
-
Writing design documents
-
Conducting playtesting, summarizing the results and proposing changes for the game
-
Designing levels
-
Creating the game art.
Learnings
The project made me develop my competence in the following areas:
-
Working with people of different educational backgrounds
-
Designing for mobile
-
Working in the Unity engine
-
Iterating the design based on playtesting.
